Please read carefully before using this application

1. Not Financial or Tax Advice

This tool is for educational and informational purposes only. It does not constitute financial, tax, investment, or retirement planning advice. No fiduciary, advisor-client, or professional relationship is created by your use of this tool. You should consult a qualified financial advisor, CPA, or tax professional before making any financial decisions based on information provided here.

2. Projection Limitations

This is a projection engine designed for long-term retirement planning; it is not meant for tracking month-to-month changes. Results are generated using Monte Carlo simulation with randomized market returns and inflation rates. They represent statistical probabilities, not predictions of future outcomes. Past performance does not indicate future results. Actual outcomes will differ — potentially significantly — from any projection shown. The model assumes certain market behaviors and correlations that may not hold in practice. The optimizer finds the best strategy assuming both spouses live to their configured life expectancy. The Monte Carlo simulations do model the financial transition when the first spouse passes (bracket switch, account inheritance, reduced spending), but the optimizer does not specifically optimize for survivor scenarios.

3. Tax Estimation Caveats

Federal and state tax calculations are simplified models of the U.S. tax code. Known simplifications include: state retirement income exemptions are not integrated into the withdrawal cascade gross-up, certain state deduction rules use approximations, and Alternative Minimum Tax calculations use a basic model. Tax law changes frequently — the tool uses a point-in-time snapshot of rates and thresholds that may become outdated without notice.

4. Data Sources

IRS tax brackets, IRMAA thresholds, Social Security parameters, and state tax data are sourced from published IRS Revenue Procedures, Social Security Administration bulletins, CMS announcements, and state Department of Revenue publications. These are updated periodically but may lag behind recent legislative changes.

5. No Guarantee of Accuracy

While care has been taken to implement correct calculations — including automated test verification against IRS worksheets — the software may contain errors. The developers make no warranty, express or implied, regarding accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose.

6. Data Security

Your financial data is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM with a key derived from your password. The developers cannot access or recover your data without your password or recovery key. However, no system is perfectly secure — you use this tool at your own risk.

7. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall the developers or contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, this tool or its output. You assume full responsibility for any actions taken based on the projections and information provided.
